Dear John,
Earlier this month, we wrote to you about Dixon: a one-year-old survivor of the dairy industry who is now safe and thriving at our Southern California shelter. Because boys can’t make milk to profit the dairy industry, the young Holstein calf was considered worthless, and offered up on Craigslist free of charge.
Sadly, most “dairy boys” never see their first birthdays—instead, they go to slaughter for veal or cheap beef at just days to weeks old. Luckily, thanks to a kind rescuer, Dixon’s life is only just beginning. Enjoy this video we took last year showing Dixon’s first day out and about at our SoCal Sanctuary.
Providing a full and vibrant life for Dixon at Farm Sanctuary takes a community of supporters. Will you be part of Dixon's journey?
A perfect way to help Dixon, and others like him, is through a special, one-time symbolic “adoption” gift. For a contribution of $35, you can support his ongoing care—including food, clean bedding, and routine health checks.
And, when you “adopt” Dixon, from now through August 31, our friends at Treeline Treenut Cheese will match your donation dollar-for-dollar, up to $10,000. It’s our fifth year collaborating with this leading producer of plant-based, non-dairy cheese—and we’re so grateful to be helping cows like Dixon, together.

In gratitude for your donation, we will send you a digital adoption certificate featuring Dixon—courtesy of Treeline and Farm Sanctuary’s Adopt a Farm Animal Program. You can print and display Dixon’s image with pride or send it along to those who share your compassion.
We are just about halfway through our challenge, and need your help to meet our goal. If you want to help more cows like Dixon live full and happy lives, please consider this unique opportunity to double your impact—“adopt” Dixon today!
Love,
