In a cheap, and likely unconstitutional, attempt to stall congressional negotiations on the next coronavirus relief bill, Trump has just signed a series of executive orders to bypass Congress – including one that spells DISASTER for Social Security.
President Trump’s executive order that would suspend payroll tax has immediate and harmful consequences to the revenue sources needed to sustain the Social Security program – which provides vitally important assistance to prevent older Americans from slipping into poverty.
Not only does Trump’s action weaken Social Security, it doesn’t provide immediate assistance to those who are in most need, including the unemployed. It simply provides for a small boost in take-home pay for working people which they may ultimately be required to pay back!
It’s nonsensical and poses a risk to our seniors!

Rather than do the hard work of governing by negotiating with Congressional Democrats, the White House and Senate Republicans are seeking to buy themselves as much time as possible to further stall negotiations rather than providing us with substantive and life-saving relief that is needed NOW.
Let Trump and Congressional Republicans know we see through their cheap smoke and mirrors stunt and demand that they come to the table to negotiate a bill that provides REAL relief now.
