Republicans just won't stop trying to undermine the 2020 Census, friend!
First, the Trump administration tried to sneak in a question about citizenship. Then, last month, Trump signed an (unconstitutional) order to exclude undocumented people from apportionment. Now this:
MSNBC: "Census Bureau to curtail counting efforts, jeopardizing accuracy"
Fight back >>> [link removed]
What's happening here? The Census Bureau needed more time to complete their count because of the public health emergency. But Senate Republicans led by Mitch McConnell refused to grant it.
According to NPR, "the bureau now has less than two months left to try to reach people of color, immigrants, renters, rural residents, and other members of historically undercounted groups who are not likely to fill out a census form on their own."
And if they can't reach those people? They won't get properly counted -- which means that when it's time to allocate federal money and legislative representation, communities of color will be disadvantaged. Which is A-OK for Trump and McConnell!
But we're fighting back. We successfully stopped the citizenship question, we're fighting Trump's order, and we'll do everything we can to ensure an accurate census. Can you help, friend?
