In California and across America, far too many people struggle to make
rent or find a home they can afford.

The problem isn’t simply unemployment — which remains relatively low — but
the fact that people working two or three jobs still can’t find affordable
places to live. There aren’t enough homes, and housing prices are
skyrocketing.

Right now, our nation needs a housing boom, just as we did after WWII,
when we built millions of affordable homes for returning GIs. We need
millions of new homes at a price point that is actually accessible to
working and middle-class families.

That’s why I introduced the Housing BOOM Act.

My bill would dramatically increase the supply of affordable new homes for
middle-income and lower-income families by tripling the amount of support
the federal government gives through tax credits. Because we need to build
a lot of housing — fast.

It would make it possible for young people to own a home or pay their rent
without struggling to make ends meet.

scope that will change the way housing is built in this country won’t be
