ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Water and land management have greatly altered river flows across California, degrading ecosystems and decimating native species. A different approach to managing environmental flows is needed to arrest the decline.
PPIC CalTrout Ecosystem Fellow Ted Grantham will outline a new report on using “functional flows”—which restore seasonal components of river flow—to sustain the biological, chemical, and physical processes necessary for ecosystem health. A panel of experts will discuss how to put this approach into practice.
This research and event were supported with funding from the S. D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation and the funders of the PPIC CalTrout Ecosystem Fellowship.
