Mayor Warren is the first woman elected to lead Rochester -- the home of
suffragette and women's rights champion Susan B. Anthony. In 2016, to mark the
historic occasion of a woman leading a major party presidential ticket, Mayor
Warren laid a sign by Anthony's grave reading, "144 years ago, your illegal
vote got you arrested. It took another 48 years for women to finally gain the
right to vote. Thank you for paving the way."
