I hope you and your family are safe and healthy. As south Georgia continues to experience dangerous wildfires, please know that I am closely monitoring and keeping impacted families in my thoughts. I am committed to ensuring that Georgia receives every federal resource available to help fight these fires and support our communities.

This week was a difficult one for the Georgia Congressional Delegation. We lost one of our own with the passing of Representative David Scott. For over 20 years, David was a tireless champion for America's farmers on the House Agriculture Committee, fighting every day to protect their livelihoods and strengthen rural communities. He served the people of Georgia with compassion and with honor. His wife Alfredia, the Scott family, and David's staff are in my prayers. May he rest in peace.

I had the pleasure of meeting one of our district's Congressional App Challenge Winners, Utshaho Gupta, who developed the “Affordable Smart Glasses for Blind and Visually Impaired People”. My annual App Challenge is an amazing way for young people to use STEM to solve real-world problems. Congratulations to all of our winners. Keep learning, innovating, and reaching even greater heights!

After years of bipartisan collaboration on the Workforce Innovation Act, my Republican colleagues tried to poison the legislation with amendments to dismantle the Department of Education.
