John,

In November 2024, Donald Trump announced the creation of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which was supposedly created to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse.

But everything that has happened since DOGE’s creation shows it was never about saving taxpayers’ money.

In June, CREW found that DOGE’s cuts at select agencies could result in the loss of more than $10 billion in domestic economic activity—and shut down programs that have put over $26 billion directly back into taxpayers’ pockets.

Reporting from the Washington Post reveals how little oversight went into making these cuts. DOGE staffers used ChatGPT, asking, “Does the following relate at all to DEI? Begin with ‘Yes.’ or ‘No.’ followed by a brief explanation.”

While DOGE has gutted key programs, we still haven’t seen savings. Instead, we’re watching this administration recklessly spend billions.

CREW is working to expose the Trump administration’s true agenda and ensure that our government works for the people it serves. If that’s a mission you believe in, please donate today to support our work → [[link removed]]

Since taking office, Trump and his administration have weakened oversight and opened the floodgates for unchecked spending. Let’s take a look at just a few examples:

Last August, Trump deployed hundreds of National Guard troops to DC, costing taxpayers about $1.65 million per day, with no clear goals or demonstrated public safety impact. It has cost at least $330 million so far. Now the Pentagon suggests the deployment could continue through early 2029—the end of Trump’s second term— which means the total cost could easily exceed $1 billion.

* In February, Trump launched a war on Iran without seeking congressional approval. Reports indicate it’s costing taxpayers nearly $1 billion per day.
* And all of this is happening while Trump’s taxpayer-funded golf tab has hit $100 million—with Trump spending 110 days, or roughly one-fourth of his time in office, at golf properties he personally owns and profits from.

The numbers don’t lie. It was never about government efficiency—it was about cutting programs Trump didn’t like, undermining oversight and clearing the way for unchecked spending.

That’s why CREW has been fighting back from the start.

When DOGE was controlling major government functions with no oversight or meaningful transparency into its operations, we sued to get answers—and we won. When the Office of Management and Budget took down a website that showed how the government is spending taxpayer money, we took them to court. The court ruled in our favor and ordered them to restore the website.

John, while the Trump administration tries to shield its operations and undermine government transparency, we’re taking action—and we’re winning.

We’re committed to holding the Trump administration accountable and fighting for the transparent, ethical, and accountable government Americans deserve. Help us keep up this fight by chipping in today to support our efforts → [[link removed]]
