Hello —
This morning, Donald Trump openly announced he’s trying to sabotage the election by doubling down on his refusal to fund the United States Postal Service:
This is outrageous. But it’s not the first time Trump has played partisan games with the USPS or Americans’ right to vote.
He called mailed-in ballots “corrupt” (despite voting absentee himself in Florida) and argued the Republicans should fight against universal vote-by-mail because higher turnout means “you’d never have a Republican elected in this country again.”
And today, he made it crystal clear that he will stop at nothing to make it harder for folks to exercise their constitutional right to vote in November’s election and sabotage our democracy.
We saw firsthand what happens when people are forced to decide between keeping themselves and their families safe and heading to the ballot box right here in Wisconsin — a choice no one should ever have to make.
That’s why I strongly support expanding vote-by-mail programs across the country, and ensuring the USPS is fully functioning will be critical to a free and fair election. I’m asking you to join me.
Will you sign my petition demanding emergency funding for the USPS so ALL Americans can make their voices heard in the 2020 election? We must protect the sacred right to vote and ensure everyone can participate in our democracy.
If we don’t act to protect our voting rights from GOP attacks right now, the consequences could be irreversible. That’s why it’s so important for us to act now.
Thanks for reading.
