But malaria doesn't wait. Right now, efforts to control and eliminate the disease are in jeopardy as communities and programmes face the fallout of funding cuts.
When funding falls and programmes weaken, malaria comes back fast - killing hundreds of thousands more children and reversing hard-won gains. Commitment now is what makes ending this disease possible.
