Last summer, Congress finally acted to stop funneling taxpayer dollars to Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion business.

Planned Parenthood profits from the killing of preborn children, and Congress took the important step of cutting off hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars that had long sustained this evil industry through Medicaid.

It was a tremendous victory for life. But in just over two months, that victory will disappear unless Congress acts now.

That’s why Live Action has led a coalition of pro-life leaders in sending a letter directly to Senate Majority Leader John Thune and members of the Senate demanding they use the 2026 reconciliation bill to make this defunding permanent.

Planned Parenthood’s latest annual report indicates that, prior to its defunding, the abortion giant committed a devastating 434,450 abortions in the last reported year — an 8% increase over the prior year. That’s 1,190 innocent preborn babies murdered every day.

The 2025 reconciliation bill, signed into law on July 4th last year, cut off Medicaid dollars to the abortion industry. It was historic. It was long overdue. And it’s already having life-saving effects. Facilities have closed, and certain abortion operations have scaled back.

But we’re facing a huge problem. Unlike the rest of the reconciliation package, which has a 10-year expiration date, the defunding of Planned Parenthood expires on July 4, 2026. After that, nearly $800 million in taxpayer money starts flowing back to Planned Parenthood. Every single year.

Congress did it once. They can extend their lifesaving decision. But they need to hear from you.
