John,  Louisiana Republicans just advanced one of the cruelest anti-homeless bills in the country. Under this bill, homeless people would be forced to choose between jail and involuntary treatment. They'd be billed for that treatment. And if they can't pay, they'd be forced to perform unpaid labor to work it off. I am a man of Christian faith. And I have to be honest with you: this is disgusting. This is not what Jesus stands for. This is not what any faith that preaches love, dignity, and compassion for the least among us stands for. MAGA has weaponized our faith. They wave the cross while punishing the poor, criminalizing suffering, and treating our most vulnerable neighbors as inconveniences to be disposed of. That perversion of Christianity is why their support is crumbling. Americans of faith are waking up. That's why I'm running for U.S. Senate in Louisiana.
