Be ready to take action.

Hi Friend,
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has launched an inquiry seeking public comment on whether television ratings should be modified to flag LGBTQ content, particularly content related to gender identity, a move that could potentially erase our stories from family television.
As GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis told press after the FCC news broke:
"Parents should absolutely have a say in what their kids watch, and parents already know that seeing an LGBTQ person on screen or in real life does no harm. What does cause harm is government overreach...Media should reflect the world people live in and that includes LGBTQ people and families."
Defending our community against this kind of attack on free expression is exactly why GLAAD was established more than 40 years ago. We are currently analyzing the most effective path forward to ensure LGBTQ stories are not erased or censored on television — but we need to move as one.
