Friend, I made a tough decision recently, and you deserve to know why.

Throughout my time in Congress, Donald Trump has been targeting me relentlessly. He launched an investigation into me for my support for Ukraine, all because I demanded Trump’s call transcripts with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman be released.

I demanded truth and accountability. And in return, I was met with revenge and retaliation — again. This is just another stunt by Trump to get revenge against me for blowing the whistle on him over 6 years ago.

But the truth is, our fundraising has slowed down since then. This is a big problem, not only because it keeps us short of having adequate resources to fight back, but also because now I'm running in a new Congressional district where I have to reach new voters.

So my team and I sat down to figure out how to respond. We needed to set the record straight for voters who don’t know me yet, so we decided we needed to urgently expand our digital advertising efforts to reach new folks, fight back against this sham investigation, and catch up on our fundraising.

I’ll be honest: the money wasn’t in the budget. But I gave my team the green light anyway because we can’t let these sham attacks and investigations affect how voters see me — and because I’m betting on this grassroots team to help us close the gap.
