Dear John,

Miles Coleman ended up in law school on a whim.

“I got to law school not really knowing anything about the practice of law or what I was going to do with a law degree,” he recalls.

But shortly after starting at the University of South Carolina (USC), Miles heard about the Blackstone Legal Fellowship—a summer training program by Alliance Defending Freedom.

Blackstone brings together exceptional Christian law students and prepares them for careers marked by integrity and excellence.

Since Blackstone was launched more than 20 years ago, it has grown exponentially. Today, more than 2,400 law students have benefitted from the generosity of people like you, John.

Attending Blackstone changed everything for Miles.

Your gift changes lives and makes a difference in the fight for freedom

The key to what makes Blackstone such a good investment is that it extends far beyond the training and internships held each summer.

The program marks the beginning of a lifelong professional relationship that equips Blackstone Fellows to effectively engage the legal culture and accelerate their careers.

That’s exactly what happened with Miles.

“Blackstone broadened my horizons,” Miles explains. “It opened my eyes to judicial clerkships, and the idea of working at a large law firm—that I could do good, and be a good husband, father, and community member.”

Today, Miles works at the largest law firm in South Carolina, serving a variety of corporate clients. And as an ADF Allied Attorney, Miles defends clients who need their First Amendment rights protected.

In fact, Miles has developed a national reputation for drafting compelling amicus briefs in U.S. Supreme Court cases on behalf of clients including monasteries, seminaries, U.S. Senators and Representatives, chaplains, law professors, conservative Jewish groups, and others, including in the appeal of, Burwell v. Hobby Lobby, in which he authored a brief on behalf of a group of Christian theologians.

“It’s an area that I never would have had the interest, knowledge, or connections to get into if not for Blackstone,” he says.

Miles’ hard work and commitment to making a positive impact in his community have not gone unnoticed.

Last year, he was awarded the Compleat Lawyer Award from the USC law school. The award is given to alumni “who have made significant contributions to the legal profession and exemplify the highest standards of professional competence, ethics, and integrity.”

Blackstone equips Christian leaders like Miles to make a real difference. But this work is only possible with God’s blessing and your faithful support.

Generous ministry friends have donated $250,000 to match your gift to support the Blackstone Legal Fellowship dollar for dollar. Today your gift will be DOUBLED to help grow Blackstone in the coming years and train more Christian leaders to make a difference!

DOUBLE MY GIFT

Your investment in Blackstone pays off!

Stories like Miles’ are more common than you may think among Blackstone Fellows.

Many Fellows go on to get competitive jobs in the private and public sector.

Over 110 Blackstone graduates are in full-time legal nonprofit work advocating for your religious freedom.

Several hundred work for federal, state, and local governments providing influence over legislation and policy.

A growing number are becoming law professors and business leaders.

Fellows continue to secure clerkship positions at a higher rate than graduates of Harvard, Yale, Stanford, and every other top law school in the country.

Most Blackstone Fellows also go on to serve as Allied Attorneys with ADF.

This community of allies has donated more than 1.1 million hours of pro bono legal services—valued at over $223 million—to fight for Christians whose rights to freely live out their faith and share the Gospel were under attack.

These attorneys are going above and beyond to fight for your freedoms.

But Miles’ story—just like many other Blackstone Fellows—would have been very different without you, John. Because without God’s blessing (John 15:5) and your generosity, the Blackstone Legal Fellowship wouldn’t exist.

Will you make a tax-deductible gift today to support the next generation of Christian leaders who will work tirelessly to protect your most cherished freedoms?

The match won’t last forever—DOUBLE your tax-deductible gift now!

If freedom is going to be protected for future generations, we must equip the next generation of Christian leaders—people like Miles—to continue the fight.

That’s what Blackstone is designed to do.

Blackstone gives these impressive young people the education and tools they need to defend your constitutional freedoms—whether it be in the courtroom, in the halls of government, or in other leadership positions.

And just as importantly, Blackstone gives them a lifelong community of Christian colleagues so that they stand boldly for their faith and know they never have to do it alone.

Miles will never forget how impactful Blackstone was to students who attended law schools in very secular environments.

“I remember meeting other law students at Blackstone who felt so isolated in their law schools that they were on the verge of tears to find a community of likeminded Christian law students at Blackstone,” Miles recalls.

Time after time, we see law students go from feeling isolated and overwhelmed to being reenergized in their passions and fully equipped to carry on the mission God called them to.

Through Blackstone, they see that there is a place for them in government, at the helm of corporations and prestigious law firms, and in positions of influence in their communities—places where they can make a real difference.

Blackstone Fellows have immense potential to change our country for the better, John. They are our future. And through God’s blessing and your support, we are equipping them to defend your freedoms.

But each year, we have to turn away dozens of highly qualified Blackstone applicants. Our resources only go so far.

It’s hard to turn away these exceptional students, which is why we need you!

Growing this important program and continuing this work is not possible without the generous financial support of people like you.

Generous ADF Ministry Friends have already donated $250,000 to match your gift to support the Blackstone Legal Fellowship dollar for dollar. That means your gift today will be doubled—a $10 gift will become $20, a $100 gift will become $200, and a $1,000 gift will become $2,000.

But the match won’t last forever.

Please take advantage of this rare opportunity to double your gift right now.

Because of the blessing of the match, your gift will have twice the impact to support the next generation of Christian leaders as they defend your most cherished freedoms.

Thank you for giving generously.
