Marissa drops her son off for a playdate. When she returns, the woman at the door has never heard of him.
Based on Andrea Mara's 2021 novel, All Her Fault wastes no time establishing its nightmare premise and then methodically tightening the screws. Sarah Snook is exceptional as Marissa, a controlled, self-made woman whose composure splinters in real time as the search for her son unravels family secrets she wasn't prepared for. Dakota Fanning matches her scene for scene as Jenny, the unlikely ally whose own life contains more than it appears. The two performances anchor a series that earns its twists — this is less about shock value and more about the slow, dread-soaked realization that everyone in Marissa's life may have been lying to her. Michael Peña's detective adds a welcome moral complexity. The Golden Globe nominations for Best Limited Series and Best Actress for Snook were well deserved.
A supremely watchable domestic thriller elevated by two of the best performances on television this year. Now streaming on Peacock.
