Dear friends,
Yesterday's issue of the Lincoln Journal Star featured a story about Jeff Fortenberry’s new campaign ad. The article claims that his ad is the “first television ad of the 2020 congressional campaign” and praises him for focusing on a “a positive message rather than a negative campaign attack.”
Here’s the problem:
Jeff Fortenberry aired an attack ad in May, the day after Kate Bolz won the primary. The Journal Star even wrote an article about it.
Yesterday's advertisement was not the first television ad of the campaign, and Fortenberry’s first ad did not focus on a positive message at all. His claims in the article are factually incorrect.
Congressman Fortenberry chose to misrepresent the truth about his campaign to the media – not only in the Journal Star, but in three other publications that ran his press release. He lied. He lied to the media and the people of Nebraska.
Rush $10 to unseat Fortenberry →
Fortenberry has clearly spent too long in Washington. He stooped down to DC-style negative ads to try and save his declining reputation, and he didn’t think Nebraskans would notice such an obvious lie in the paper.
Nebraska deserves better. Nebraska deserves someone who respects the truth, the media, and the intelligence of her own constituents.
We’re working overtime to unseat Jeff Fortenberry and replace him with Kate Bolz, an experienced legislator running to advocate for health care, the environment, and plain old integrity in Washington.
But we don’t have Fortenberry’s corporate checkbook, so we need to pick up the pace on our grassroots fundraising. Will you chip in $10, $25, or $50 to fire Fortenberry?
Thank you for everything you do. Together in people power,
Brent
