One year after the U.S. government terminated hundreds of millions of dollars in support for women and girls, 750,000 women and girls in Ukraine remain without access to lifesaving sexual and reproductive healthcare services. 

Now, in the fifth year of this crisis, hospitals have been pushed past their breaking point. Babies are being born too early, and their mothers are dying during childbirth. Survivors of violence are struggling to find help and a safe place to live amid relentless shelling and blackouts. 

When systems collapse, women and girls are always at risk of being left behind. But, thanks to your support, we are there.

Our teams are on the ground reaching women and girls across Ukraine despite facing increasingly difficult and dangerous conditions. Just last week, ambulance medics in Kyiv were injured while responding to an attack. Last month, two medics were killed after leaving a UNFPA hospital.  

“There is no option to turn back,” said Liudmyla, a doctor working with a mobile health clinic in Ukraine. “If we have arrived, we will provide care. We examine every woman who comes—without exception.”
