Equal Power Workshops

Our ground-breaking three-year campaign to get more women into public and political life continues into the autumn with a programme of fantastic workshops. Here are two highlights:

How do I become a Councillor in Scotland? (25 August)
Get a better understanding of what councils do, how councillors fulfil their responsibilities and the time commitment, skills and experiences required to take on the role. In this session run by the Parliament Project you'll also hear from inspiring women councillors from across the political spectrum. Sign up here ([link removed][UNIQID])

Your next civic role. Become a magistrate. (9 September)
Learn about what magistrates do, the skills you might need to become one and the application process with Muslim Women's Network UK. Registration for Peer Support Circle now open!

Equal Power partner The Parliament Project is working to build and maintain strong, diverse and supportive networks of women who are preparing to stand as Councillors, MPs and MSPs. Starting on 9 September, the Peer Support Circle ([link removed][UNIQID]) is a 6-session journey with women from across the parties. If you are considering standing for elected office, or even just flirting with the idea, we encourage you to apply. Not only will you leave feeling confident with new skills, you will build a network of like-minded women empowering you in your journey to #GetReadyToStand. Ordinary Women Doing Extraordinary Things

The Antarctic Fire Angels, a team of six firefighters, will embark on an epic journey across Antarctica in 2023, while also raising funds and awareness for Fawcett and two other charities. They are hard at work on the frontline while also training for the expedition. But they need more funding to get to the next step of their preparation, you can help them with a donation ([link removed][UNIQID]) .

Funny Women Workshops

This month Funny Women is offering two Comedy Crash Courses, one for adults and another for young people.

Comedy Crash Course ([link removed][UNIQID]) (17 - 21 August)
The one-week, fast-track Comedy Crash Course features an hour of expert coaching and guidance each day and a showcase with feedback on Friday. Facilitated by four industry experts, this course provides tailored tips and advice to help you refine your performance style mentally and physically, develop and construct material and refine your comedic skills.

Comedy Crash Course for 11-16 Year olds ([link removed][UNIQID]) (24 - 28 August)
This course is a fun, safe, immersive online experience to build young people's confidence, explore creativity and help them perform. They will learn about creating characters, improvisation, musical comedy and come away with some invaluable performance skills. Facilitated by four of the industry’s experts in comedy and performance, this course provides tailored tips and advice to help the next generation of comedy performers and writers communicate more freely by creating content with their peers.
