The Rio Grande Valley has some of the lowest voter turnout in Texas.

That’s the challenge. But it’s also the opportunity.

In a recent conversation with UTRGV political science professor Mark
Kaswan, one thing came through loud and clear: the Valley is full of
untapped power. If the RGV turns out, Texas changes.

“But if people in the Rio Grande Valley were to start voting at the same
rate as people in the suburbs in Dallas and Houston, the Rio Grande Valley
would be the tail that wags the dog of Texas politics.”

It’s not easy to get to the RGV. It took Beto two flights and a full day
of travel both ways, but it’s worth the effort.

Because this is the work that works. We go where the stakes are high and
where showing up matters.

That’s why in addition to Beto’s visits, PXP has a full-time organizer in
the Valley who recruits, trains and oversees the volunteers who are on the
frontlines of this election. We count on them to meet, register and stay
in touch with the voters we need to win.
