Email from Jamie for Louisiana They are finally seeing that the plan is to drive farmers into bankruptcy and then help Big Ag and wealthy MAGA investors snap up their land at a discount. John, Some of the cotton farmers I talk to stay in regular contact with Trump’s people at the White House to see what’s going on. Farmers are facing the fiercest headwinds from Trump’s disastrous handling of our economy. Trump has created a perfect storm that is ruining American farmers in record numbers, driving many to bankruptcy, desperation, and even suicide. Those same folks I know are telling me that the best the Trump White House can come up with is to throw more money at a small fraction of farmers to help them try to weather that storm. Unsurprisingly, Trump’s only solution is another bailout—and an ineffective one at that. That’s why I am also hearing the scuttlebutt that many farmers (including longtime Republicans) are finally starting to see this for what it is: just another corrupt insider scheme to drive family farms into bankruptcy and then help Big Ag and wealthy MAGA investors snap up their farmland at a discount. JD Vance invested early in a tech outfit called AcreTrader that buys up bankrupted farmers’ land dirt cheap, and then facilitates sales for wealthy investors to turn huge profits. It’s private equity for family farms married with government corruption. And it is ruining the very people that families across America (and the world) rely on for fresh food. If you don’t know me, my name is Jamie Davis. I am the Louisiana farmer and Democrat running to flip Louisiana’s US Senate seat this November. And I believe we are on the brink of a seismic shift that will realign politics for generations. I am not a politician—I have been a farmer my entire life. (I still am.) But even I know that change on this scale doesn’t just happen. It takes organizing, hard work, and someone who can unite people who fundamentally disagree with each other around common ideals and values. In fact, I am confident that a politician actually would be unable to win this seat. That’s why I am so optimistic that together we can do this. My campaign is surging right now, and we just need to keep the energy and momentum going so we can really take off. John, I have to ask: can you contribute $25 or whatever you can afford right now to help a farmer and a New Deal style Democrat take back the Heartland?
