John,

This Earth Day, our nation's wildest forests are facing potential destruction. The U.S. Forest Service is on the brink of finalizing a plan that would open 45 million acres of trees to logging.[1]

On Earth Day, we should be celebrating and protecting the planet we share, not turning vast stretches of forest into graveyards of stumps.

There's still time to keep protections in place and stop the logging before it starts, but we need to pull out all the stops to defend our forests before it's too late.

That's why generous donors are matching Earth Day gifts made to Environment Colorado dollar-for-dollar until midnight tonight, up to $50,000 nationwide. Donate now to double your impact, John -- forests are counting on you.

The forests we love are in danger. Some of these trees have been around for centuries, but this year, we could lose them for good.

That's why we need your help to defend our oldest trees. With major threats looming over our forests, your support will make a big difference.

The U.S. Forest Service is on the verge of stripping protections from 45 million acres of national forests.[1]

From the misty pines and oaks of the Appalachian Mountains to Alaska's Tongass National Forest, our national forests represent an inherited legacy of stunning natural beauty, clean water, clean air and wildlife. To keep these wild forests off the chopping block, we're joining our allies to collect hundreds of thousands of comments to save the trees.

And this attack on our wild forests isn't the only challenge we're facing. In Congress, the so-called "Fix Our Forests Act" would open the door to unchecked logging in all our national forests.

Despite the misleading name, that bill won't fix anything -- it will completely ignore endangered species protections and environmental review to clear a path for logging companies.[2] It's already passed the U.S. House, but we're reaching out to our U.S. senators to stop this bill in its tracks.

If we don't stop these attacks, we could see chainsaws and bulldozers ripping up trees in no time. To save our forests, we're making it easy for thousands of people to take action -- and that's where you come in.

Environment Colorado is your advocate for the forests. Donate this Earth Day to maximize your support for our forests. Give before midnight tonight and your gift will be matched.
