Stop the spread of misinformation

It’s a growing danger — one that most Americans say is becoming increasingly difficult to spot.

The spread of misinformation is a clear threat to our elections. A ProPublica review of the top 50 posts that mentioned voting by mail on Facebook from April through mid-July found that nearly half contained misinformation about voting.

This is dangerous for many reasons — among them, the fact that a majority of Americans want the government to act on climate. So when anyone’s voice can’t be heard in our elections, the consequences could be devastating.

That’s why we’re launching our Misinformation Brigade. Will you join us?

Sign up, and you’ll get instant alerts when new fake news is circulating — along with clear instructions to report it and get it removed.

We need your help. Because misinformation travels with lightning speed.

One study found it moved six times faster than the truth on Twitter.

And last month, a Facebook video of a woman falsely claiming she was denied the right to vote in a Louisiana primary received more than 3.7 million views and was shared more than 170,000 times before PolitiFact deemed it false and it was removed.

But big social media networks haven’t stepped up enough to solve this problem. That’s why we need you.

Join our Misinformation Brigade, and when false news hits social media sites, we’ll notify you immediately so that you can find it, report it, and help ensure it’s removed before it can cause more harm.

Thank you for standing with us,
