We’re thrilled about last night’s big win in Virginia: Voters said YES to the redistricting referendum, rejecting Trump’s attempt to rig the midterms, and choosing fair representation instead.

As our endorsed candidate, Lieutenant Governor Ghazala Hashmi put it, “[The] connection between fair representation and real-world outcomes is too often overlooked. The composition of Congress directly affects whether communities receive resources for education, health care, housing and essential infrastructure.”

The Virginia referendum increases our chances of regaining control of the House next year, which will have real impacts on access to health care in our communities.

But we won’t stop at taking back Congress: we'll use this momentum to win governor and attorney general races, flip state legislatures, and build power in the courts.

We reach voters in areas with nested opportunities, where we can build pro-choice power at multiple levels of government. In November, states with key House races also have important state-level races:

• In Arizona, we can flip both legislative chambers to win a Democratic governing trifecta.


• In North Carolina, we can prevent the GOP from gaining a legislative supermajority, protecting the Democratic governor’s veto power.


• In Ohio, we can win back critical executive offices, like governor and attorney general.
