Donald Trump is claiming yesterday’s election in Virginia was rigged, John.
The truth is, Trump himself was trying to rig our elections when he ordered mid-decade redistricting in red states across the country to tilt the midterms and lock in Republican control of the House.
Voters across Virginia saw the truth. And last night, they voted to level the playing field and reject his corrupt scheme.
This was a huge blow to Trump’s plan to lock in power. So now, he’s doing the only thing he knows how: turning to baseless claims of fraud.
Once again targeting mail-in voting, the same method millions of Americans (including Trump himself) rely on.
This kind of rhetoric is strategic. It fuels conspiracy theories and undermines trust in our elections.
But ultimately, it sets the stage for his next scheme: to dismantle mail-in ballots and disenfranchise millions more voters. Stopping people from voting is the only way he sees a path to victory this November after his catastrophic term in office.
John, I won’t let that happen.
I’m going to fight to protect Americans' constitutional right to vote in free and fair elections.
But like any other fight against Trump, it won’t be easy.
Donald Trump is already seeking retribution against me. He’s launched a sham investigation into me to kick me out of Congress because I dared to hold him accountable on the House floor.
And the more I stand up to him, the harder he’s going to come at me.
We need to be ready to fight back, John.
Trump knows I’m now running in a new district and am going to have to win over new voters. So his allies will dump money into our race to slander me and make sure I lose.
