New York’s history of welcoming immigrants from around the world represents the very best of America. Our community is a living demonstration that our diversity is strength. That’s why I’m proud to be endorsed by the New York Immigrant Coalition Action Fund.

As the grandson and great-grandson of immigrants, I understand the importance of securing the rights and freedoms of those who come to our country in search of a better life. That’s why I fought to fund refugee services in the state budget and have worked to bring families together right here in Brooklyn: [[link removed]] .

At a time when the federal government is locking children in cages, our community is standing up for immigrants’ rights. Accepting the endorsement of NYIC Action is deeply important to me. Southern Brooklyn is home to immigrants from all over the world. As a State Senator, I seek to represent every single person in my district, no matter where they came from or when they came here.

I will always stand up against xenophobic or anti-immigrant actions or rhetoric and fight for a unified community that respects the immigrants’ rights.
