Hi,
We are experiencing two pandemics: COVID-19 and the
devastation of our planet.
After five months living under coronavirus, the link between human
behavior and the risk of pandemic cannot be denied. When human
activities shut down, we saw cleaner waterways, better air quality and
decreased greenhouse gas emissions. But if we don’t implement
a lasting green recovery, these gains will be fleeting.
Reforestation is one way we can affect both
pandemics. Healthy forests create jobs, food and sustainable
communities, while replenishing the world’s trees helps sequester
carbon and produces the oxygen we breathe. Healthy forests reduce risk
of future pandemics by combatting ecosystem degradation that leads to
spread of disease between animals and people.
Earth Day Network’s Canopy Project is at the forefront of the
world’s reforestation efforts. Will you support a green
recovery?
Donors like you have helped us plant hundreds of millions of trees
from Uganda to Canada, Mexico, India and Madagascar over the past
decade — including over 1
million new trees so far this year. Your donation goes directly to
plant trees that restore vital habitats often in remote areas, and
supports people who live in communities where trees are planted.
Our reforestation communities are facing direct threats to their
way of life from climate change. The pandemic is only exacerbating
their situation.
Your
support is needed now more than ever to allow us to continue our work
in these communities.
For recovery,
Kathleen Rogers President
