Jack, I sat down with Ezra Klein to talk through what it means to regulate AI in a way that actually works for people.
This is the conversation I’ve been wanting to have — everything from job displacement to our kids’ minds and futures to super-intelligence, and of course, what government can do about all of it. Plus, the massive super PAC spending against me.

We dug into all of it, and I hope you’ll take a listen [[link removed]] to the podcast episode (or read the excerpts in this New York Times piece [[link removed]] ).
One big question on the table: Can democratic institutions govern this technology before it governs us? Ezra says no — but I’m running a campaign to change that.
Towards the end of our conversation, Ezra points out that my campaign is a test case for how AI regulation is going to go in the future — and that’s exactly what super PACs like Leading the Future have said, too. They’re trying to make an example out of me.
If the super PAC successfully drowns out my campaign with massive spending, the lesson for members of Congress is to run the other way . Don’t actually touch this issue (or any other issue with well-funded special interests, for that matter). Maybe you can give a speech on it, maybe you can go on a podcast about it. But don’t try to pass the bill, because they will end your career.
That’s what we’re fighting against. But no matter how committed I am to this fight, I can’t win it alone. So I’m asking you for help:
Will you contribute towards our April online fundraising goal so we can counter the dark money attacks against me and stand strong against special interests trying to buy the election results they want? [[link removed]]

Thank you so much for reading, listening, and giving what you can. Thousands of people have joined this campaign because they know how high the stakes are — and together, I believe we can win.
More soon.
-Alex
