Duke.Duke University froze funding and revoked the recognized status of its Students for Justice in Palestine chapter after complaints about an Instagram post depicting “Zionism” as a

pig holding a Star of David. ADL pointed out that the image relied on classic antisemitic tropes. “Characterizing Zionists as pigs is a deliberate form of dehumanization,” said ADL Regional Director Tali Cohen as she criticized the images for normalizing hate and spoke up about the need to protect the dignity and safety of Jewish students. Duke said the disciplinary move reflected concerns about the post and prior issues about the group.

San Diego State. The student government at San Diego State University has debated across several meetings about an
[link removed]
anti-Israel resolution that would tar Israel as genocidal, push BDS and urge the school to end Israel-related academic programs such as the Murray Galinson San Diego-Israel Initiative (MGSDII). A final vote is expected on April 22. Senior Maya Gerassi was among the Jewish students who called for other options to be considered.
[link removed]
She warned that the resolution “will foster an antisemitic climate at SDSU, creating an environment where discrimination against Jewish and pro-Israel students is legitimized and encouraged because it is student body policy.” In ADL’s latest
[link removed]
Campus Antisemitism Report Card, the school rated a solid B, in part because of administrative support for programs such as MGSDII.

Concord-Carlisle K-12 schools. In a win for Jewish students – and all students – at the Concord-Carlisle Regional School District in Massachusetts, the schools have
[link removed]
reached an agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice following a federal civil rights filing by ADL and its legal partners. The legal action, filed on behalf of a Jewish family whose child was enrolled in the district, documented an alarming pattern of antisemitic bullying, slurs, threats and retaliation. The settlement calls for the district to undertake initiatives to strengthen its compliance with federal civil rights law when responding to allegations of harassment based on religion, race or national origin, including antisemitism. Corena Larimer, ADL’s Senior National Litigation Counsel, praised the agreement as a potential turning point “not only for Concord-Carlisle
but also for Jewish students and families across the country who are fighting for safe and healthy school environments.”

Harvard. Legal experts, scholars and Jewish communal leaders came together at Harvard University for a

conference on antisemitism and civil rights at Harvard University held by the Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law. The gathering follows last year’s Title VI settlement between Harvard and the Brandeis Center, which included commitments to adopt the IHRA definition and expand academic engagement on antisemitism. Panels explored legal frameworks, litigation potential, campus challenges and the broader development of a modern Jewish civil rights agenda.

SPEAKING OF HARVARD... The school’s President Alan M. Garber
[link removed]
expressed his disappointment about how little students know about the Israel-Palestinian conflict and about the lack of engagement between students. “What I really felt was most disturbing as a Jewish president, but also somebody who cares personally a lot about the issues that were being discussed, is the level of ignorance among people on all sides of this issue.” May we suggest solutions? Ohio State. Two individuals were
[link removed]
arrested at Ohio State University during a pro-Israel campus event hosted by Students Supporting Israel that featured Israeli soldiers sharing firsthand accounts from 10/7 and the war that followed. The arrests occurred after protestors disrupted the event, with university officials saying the individuals were taken into custody for criminal trespass after ignoring multiple warnings and violating campus policies. The university received a C grade in ADL’s

University of South Florida. A report has emerged that Jewish students were
[link removed]
denied entry and faced harassment during a gubernatorial candidate's campus event at the University of South Florida, prompting the university to investigate what occurred. Officials confirmed that they are gathering information, including reaching out to affected students, as part of an ongoing review to determine next steps. ADL’s Florida region
[link removed]
commented on the evolving situation, stating that they “have connected with the Hillel and university administration, and appreciate the campus' efforts in starting an investigation."

~~~~~
Penn. In the latest efforts by the University of Pennsylvania to
[link removed]
block a bid by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) to compel the University of Pennsylvania to provide a list of Jewish faculty, staff and students, the school has filed a motion in Philadelphia courts to halt the enforcement of that action and has filed a notice of appeal with the U.S. Court of Appeals after a Federal judge recently sided with the EEOC.
[link removed]
Penn Hillel criticized that judge’s decision, noting the “dark historical resonance” of building government lists of Jews. As part of a coalition of Jewish organizations,
[link removed]
ADL echoed this, saying “History has taught us to be vigilant when governments compile lists of people based on religious identity.”
Brandeis. A major new Brandeis study of nearly 4,000 students at 303 colleges found that
[link removed]
47% of Jewish students experienced antisemitism on campus this year, most commonly through offensive graffiti, posters and other visible expressions of hate. The report found Jewish, Muslim and Black students all face comparable levels of hostility, with 37% of Jewish students describing their campus climate as hostile. Researchers also found that anti-Israel views seen as antisemitic were
[link removed]
“very common” among students identifying as extremely liberal, while more traditional anti-Jewish attitudes were somewhat more common among conservatives. “Many Jewish students experience hostility that, by and large, is not recognized by non-Jews,” said Brandeis professor Leonard Saxe, who helped author the study. Showing their Strength. A group of Los Angeles Jewish high school students
[link removed]
repeatedly retreated to Israeli bomb shelters this year as the warning sirens blared during their group’s first trip to Israel since 10/7. As educator Mark Shpall observed about the students from his school, the crisis could have revealed fragility or ambivalence. But instead “What I saw in those shelters was not panic. It was grit. It was strength. It was solidarity.” He praised the students for supporting each other, for connecting with parents back home and for how they cooperated with Israelis in those tense times.
Jewish and Proud… and a National Champ. Harrison Hochberg may not have logged minutes in the title game, but the University of Michigan junior still drew attention as a visibly Jewish player on this year’s NCAA men’s basketball champions. Hochberg has embraced the rare role of being
[link removed]
an openly Jewish athlete on one of the biggest stages in college sports, using his platform to speak out against antisemitism and represent the Jewish community with pride. During the Final Four, which fell over Passover, he organized a Seder at the team hotel with food shipped in from Zabar’s and even got Coach Dusty May to join in. Despite receiving hateful messages online, Hochberg says he stays focused on the bigger picture: “For every hateful message I receive, there are likely other kids who are positively impacted by what I’m doing.” Now, he is giving those kids the kind of Jewish sports role model he never had growing up.
Making the Grade. In ADL’s 2026
[link removed]
Campus Antisemitism Report Card, 26 of the 150 campuses assessed earned A grades, reflecting strong efforts to address antisemitism and support Jewish students, staff and faculty. In a hat tip to one of those A grade schools, ADL’s Southeast region presented the University of Georgia with a plaque honoring the university’s dedication to fostering a supportive environment for the Jewish campus community.
