Registration Open! May's Virtual Job Fair Helps Address Michigan's Teacher Shortage

Michigan Department of Education (MDE) virtual job fairs are open to employers of educators and all people seeking to work in the education field. The fairs leverage the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity's expertise in hosting virtual job fairs to ensure a robust experience for both employers and job seekers. The job fairs are hosted on Radancy, an engaging, easy-to-use online platform that allows participants to interact seamlessly throughout the interview process. 

The next Education Workforce Virtual Job Fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on:

It's Time to Register for MDE’s Spring Professional Practices Webinar!

The MDE Office of Educator Excellence is hosting a webinar focused on updates and answers to your professional practices questions.

This webinar will cover topics including:


* Determining which convictions are enumerated under Section 1535a of the Revised School Code.
* Fingerprinting and background check requirements for employers and employees.
* Conviction disclosure requirements for districts and employees.
* The impact of conviction set-asides/expungements on educator credentials and disclosure requirements.
* Record of Arrest and Prosecution (RAPback) notifications and their associated actions.

The webinar will be presented *on May 12, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.*

The fourth round of National Board First-Time Candidate Grant (27m(7)) will be coming in August. Teachers in schoolwide Title I schools pursuing National Board Certification for the first time may be eligible. National Board Certification is a high-quality professional development program that elevates educator standards to improve learning outcomes for students.
