It’s been less than 24 hours since Senator Kamala Harris joined Vice President Joe Biden on the Democratic ticket as his running mate, and she’s already facing an onslaught of sexist and racist attacks.
True to form, President Trump wasted no time reverting to racist and sexist stereotypes about Black women, calling Sen. Harris “nasty” less than two minutes after the announcement.1
He wasn’t alone in his attacks, but Sen. Kamala Harris isn’t alone, either.

We all know what’s coming — Trump and his extreme anti-choice cronies will use the same-old playbook of misogyny and racism to try and bring Sen. Harris down. As he always does when threatened, Trump is turning to sexism to appeal to his base, and his supporters and friendly talking heads are already following suit.
But we won’t have to let them get away with it.
Having a champion like Sen. Harris as vice president who understands that decisions about our futures, families, and our lives are not up for debate is critically important to ensuring that reproductive freedom is protected across all 50 states. That’s why we must let Sen. Harris know that NARAL members have her back.
