LULAC Welcomes Jill Biden To Virtual Summit
===========================================

Nation’s Oldest and Largest Latino Civil Rights Organization to Host Former 2nd
Lady and Education Champion

Washington, DC - The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) today
announced that former Second Lady Jill Biden, a 30-year public schools educator
and champion for education equity will join LULAC’s 2020 Virtual Summit [ [link removed] ] ,
“All for One & One for All: United in Action to Transform America”.

“This is one of the most important times in America for Latinos and to have the
wife of a former Vice-President who is now candidate for the presidency join us
shows the impact LULAC is making,” says Domingo Garcia, LULAC National President.
“Biden has also made her own mark because of her commitment to public education.
Even when she was our country’s Second Lady, she kept teaching as she has for
thirty years. I am the son of immigrant parents whose life was changed through
education and people like Biden who mentored me along the way. We welcome her
because she inspires thousands of other teachers facing very tough decisions
during COVID-19,” he adds.

LULAC is celebrating the 2020 Virtual Summit [ [link removed] ]
instead of its annual national convention and expo out of an abundance of caution
during the COVID-19 pandemic. This year's summit includes a wide range of panel
discussions, presentations and training around such topics as civil rights and
equity, health and wellness, immigration, financial literacy, democracy in
action, veterans affairs, technology, environment, LGBTQ+, Puerto Rico, education
and elections.

“Dr. Biden’s story inspires many of us ” says Sindy Benavides, National Chief
Executive Officer. “Here is a woman who after marrying Joe Biden, stepped away
from her job teaching English to raise her family. Later, she returned to school,
earned her Ph.D. in education and went back to teaching English, this time at
Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC). Her passion for education kept her
teaching even as she served as our nation’s Second Lady. LULAC applauds role
models who through their example, motivate all of us to reach our highest
potential. Biden is one of those standouts,” she added.
