Through our three Impact Centers — Domestic Excellence, Global Leadership, and our Engagement Agenda — we focus on developing leaders, advancing policy, and taking action to solve today's most pressing challenges.

Four times a year, we get together to measure the progress we've made on our programmatic work and analyze the high-quality scholarship, thought leadership, engagement, visibility, and reach of the previous quarter.

We anticipated a slightly different conversation from previous meetings. Like most others across the country, we scaled back, canceled, or rescheduled plans that required in-person gatherings. But we pushed forward with our planned policy work, adapted to our new virtual environment, and added content to help people navigate through the uncharted waters of a pandemic.

Policy in Focus
The Launch of a Digital Strategy for Competitiveness in the Northern Triangle and Conversations on Supporting Central American Economic Growth

The Bush Institute hosted two virtual events, one live and one pre-taped, discussing the importance of digitizing the Northern Triangle and their new policy paper, A Digital Strategy for Competitiveness and Integration in the Northern Triangle. Event participants included Reps. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) and Will Hurd (R-TX); Mauricio Claver-Carone, Senior Director of the National Security Council for Western Hemisphere Affairs; and Hugo Rodriguez, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs.

A New Edition of the Democracy Talks Series

Democracy Talks is a series of discussions on freedom and democracy around the world. The team produced content with experts including Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT); Wai Wai Nu, a Burmese activist and Bush Institute Liberty and Leadership Program (LLP) alumna; Freedom House president Mike Abramowitz; Laura Rosenberger, head of the Alliance for Securing Democracy; Andrew Wilson, executive director of the Center for International Private Enterprise; and Robert Kagan, a Washington Post columnist.
