DIFS Celebrates 'Michigan Open Account Coalition Month' by Highlighting Stable, Impactful Jobs in Financial Services

(LANSING, MICH) April is Michigan Open Account Coalition (MOAC) Month [ [link removed] ] and National Financial Literacy Month [ [link removed] ], and during this month, the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) is raising awareness about the many good‑paying, in‑demand financial services jobs available to Michiganders. 

“Michigan’s financial services sector has good-paying jobs available for people with many different skill sets, educational backgrounds, and interests,” said DIFS Director Anita Fox. “Working in this industry gives you the opportunity to help fellow Michiganders manage their money and navigate financial milestones, like purchasing a car or home, opening a business, or staring a family, while also benefitting you, your family, and your future.” 

Recent data [ [link removed] ] reported by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget [ [link removed] ] (DTMB) indicates a thriving Michigan financial activities sector, which includes both the insurance and financial services industries, which added 6,400 jobs in 2025. Michigan’s financial services industry offers a variety of career opportunities. To fill new positions, companies in the industry need employees with a variety of educational backgrounds, skill sets, and specializations, including:  


* Computer programming 

* Cybersecurity 

* Marketing 

* Communications 

* Education 

* Accounting 

* Economics 

* Management 

* Human Resources 

* Legal 

* Actuarial 

In addition to employment in Michigan’s financial sector, DIFS is hiring for a variety of positions to help ensure Michigan’s insurance and financial services are safe, sound, and serve the needs of the state’s consumers. During the month of April, DIFS is celebrating “Michigan Open Account Coalition [ [link removed] ] (MOAC) Month” together with National Financial Literacy Month. Throughout April, DIFS is highlighting MOAC and promoting resources, sharing educational materials, and featuring financial services careers that support of financial empowerment for all Michiganders. MOAC was formed in 2022 [ [link removed] ] by DIFS, the Michigan Bankers Association, Michigan Credit Union League, and community organizations. Its mission is to encourage relationships between financial institutions and historically underserved communities, to educate consumers about the importance of having a relationship with a financial institution, and to promote the availability of, and access to, consumer financial accounts with low and transparent fees.
