The single most effective way to prevent the current hunger crisis from worsening is to expand federally-funded food programs.
Dear Friend,
I hope this email finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy. I wanted to share this new Courier article ([link removed][UNIQID]) featuring a single mother of two, Natosha McCray, who is part of the Hunger Free America family as a member of our NYC Food Action Board ([link removed][UNIQID]) .
Natosha, who works with HFA to advocate on her Bronx community's behalf, has been relying on SNAP and Unemployment Insurance since her work as a tutor dried up when the pandemic started. Now, with the Senate and President Trump holding up funding for food assistance in the next relief bill, Natosha is concerned about how she will keep her kids fed as the effects of Covid-19 continue.
Unfortunately, Natosha's story is one that has become all too common among our clients and tens of millions of Americans across the country.
As described in the article, the single most effective way to prevent the current hunger crisis from worsening is to expand federally-funded food programs such as SNAP, WIC, and Pandemic-EBT. We've been advocating fiercely for the Senate to pass the Heroes Act ([link removed][UNIQID]) , which was passed by the House in May, and we even called out Senators on their inaction through our national billboard campaign ([link removed][UNIQID]) .
But we need your help. To continue this vital advocacy work, we need more funding. If you can afford to do so, please donate as generously as you can ([link removed][UNIQID]) so that together, we can continue to work to enact effective public policy that will keep parents, children, and seniors healthy and well fed.
My sincere thanks,
Joel Berg, CEO
