CNN: “Trump declares war on Social Security”

This week is the 85th anniversary of Social Security, one of the most effective and popular programs in our country. But President Trump is trying to gut it, which would jeopardize the financial security and well-being of seniors all over the country.

Last week, Trump made a unilateral executive order to suspend payroll taxes, cutting off a critical source of funding for Social Security.

Do you approve of Trump’s executive order to cut off funding for Social Security?

This is personal for me.

My mother Peggy is nearly 100 years old. Like many seniors, she relies on Social Security as her primary source of income. Trump’s actions put my mother and so many other seniors at risk.

I don’t want cuts to Social Security. House Democrats don’t want cuts to Social Security. Americans don’t want cuts to Social Security.

But Trump is ignoring what’s good for the country for what’s good for him and compounding an already devastating economic crisis by creating even more economic disaster.
