It's Sunday — time for another story from a Wisconsinite backing Fran.
This week: Carrie Boettcher, who's driven across central Wisconsin twice
now to hear Fran speak.

I have been following the democratic socialist movement for awhile, so
when I saw Fran was coming to Wisconsin Rapids, I was excited to hear her
speak. Her presence was one of a concerned friend. She wanted to know what
was important to us, what our community was interested in hearing about.
She didn't come and give a stump speech and shake a few hands and leave.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago — I was thrilled to see she would be
visiting Waupaca, so my husband and I went. She again showed the
compassion of a true leader with every question she answered. And when I
asked mine, she recognized me from Wisconsin Rapids! That solidified to me
how much she really is herself — it's not just her public persona.
Human rights are the most important thing to me, and Fran's platform hits
the mark — expanding BadgerCare, universal childcare, fixing the public
schools including rolling back voucher programs, helping Wisconsin
farmers. The divide between the haves and the have-nots has grown
alarmingly and someone needs to do something drastic to reverse the
damage.
What would I say to someone who's undecided or skeptical about Fran? Just
read her policies, listen to her speak, ask her the burning questions. She
isn't politics as usual. She's a breath of fresh air.
