Pat Nolan: From Federal Prison to the Oval Office

I went into prison believing in God, and I came out knowing Him.

—Pat

Flying home from Seattle to Washington, D.C., Chuck Colson quickly dictated a memo about a position he had been trying to fill for years.

“I think we found our guy,” Chuck said. “He’s in prison somewhere in Washington state. Track him down and see if he’s interested.”

Chuck had a hunch he had just met the future president of Justice Fellowship, a division of Prison Fellowship that was dedicated to advocating for the dignity and rights of incarcerated people.

Pat was serving a 33-month sentence for racketeering (for which he was later pardoned). Pat says that although his prison time was difficult, God used it for good.

Since then, Pat’s dedication to justice reform has opened doors for millions.

A Car Show Inside a Prison? Hope, Restoration, and Lowriders at RJ Donovan
A car show inside a prison yard isn’t something you expect to see—yet at Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego, that’s exactly what happened. The cars may have drawn the crowds, but what happened on the yard went far deeper.
