Friend,

I’m motivated to run for Congress because I want Alaskans to have the opportunity to learn, live, work, and raise families right here in our state. That means creating good-paying jobs, strong public education, and vibrant communities. One of the most crucial components of creating that future for all Alaskans is broadband internet.

Broadband is an equalizer, ensuring that Alaskans from Kodiak to Utqiagvik can thrive in a modern economy.

It wasn't too long ago that the internet was a luxury, but it's a necessity in today's world. It should be considered a part of our infrastructure, as important as our roads, ferries, and bridges—especially in our rural and native communities.

The current public health crisis has exposed just how urgent rural broadband is. When classes were canceled and schools and libraries closed, online learning wasn’t an option for many rural children, deepening the rural/urban education gap.

And with 80 percent of Alaska communities only accessible by boat or plane, telemedicine is crucial for areas underserved by traditional doctors. But frequent internet outages are making it an unreliable resource at a time when we need it the most.

In Congress, I will fight to make sure Alaska gets the infrastructure funding we need to pave the way for universal broadband access. If you share my vision and my values, I hope you’ll consider pitching into my campaign today.
