For Sama is an intimate and epic journey into the female experience of war. A love letter from a young mother to her daughter, the film tells the story of Waad al-Kateab’s life through five years of the uprising in Aleppo, Syria as she falls in love, gets married and gives birth to Sama, all while cataclysmic conflict rises around her.

Her camera captures incredible stories of loss, laughter and survival as Waad wrestles with an impossible choice– whether or not to flee the city to protect her daughter’s life, when leaving means abandoning the struggle for freedom for which she has already sacrificed so much.

In support of WFPG's mission of working to ensure that women's voices are heard on national security and foreign policy issues, WFPG is compiling a database of diverse and qualified women who are ready to serve in non-Senate-confirmed presidentially appointed positions. This is a bipartisan effort aimed at providing both the Trump Administration and the Biden Transition Team with a list of women candidates from a variety of backgrounds willing to serve in their administrations.

We invite you to join WFPG in this effort by nominating women in your network for inclusion in this database. We are committed to building a diverse list and ask that you are conscious of including women of color and other women from historically marginalized groups among your nominees.

Help WFPG make the case that there are ample numbers of qualified women ready to serve and that there is no excuse for leaving women out of the decision-making process. Join us in lifting up women on both sides of the aisle and building a diverse pipeline of future leaders.
