We need Congress to ensure every household in America has internet access.

John —

Broadband internet. Some days it feels like we can’t make it through this pandemic without it. That’s especially true for kids facing online school this fall.

But close to 42 million people across the country lack adequate access to broadband, with Black, Latinx, and Indigenous households suffering disproportionately.

Negotiations over federal COVID-19 response legislation are dragging on. Dream Corps members have been speaking up in big numbers, demanding a stimulus bill that prioritizes our communities. Now, delays mean we have more time to demand a massive investment in expanding broadband access.

Send a message to Congress: Expand access to broadband internet.

Black and Brown people are already underrepresented in the high-tech economy. That is why Dream Corps TECH partners with industry leaders to train and place people from underrepresented backgrounds in tech-sector careers.

Now, this pandemic could make a bad situation worse:

More and more companies are moving to a remote workforce that depends on high-speed internet.

Almost overnight, schools had to go online to protect kids, teachers, and parents from the deadly COVID-19 virus.

It is now more clear than ever that high-paying jobs of the future will require broadband internet — at work and home.

Nearly 40% of students in low-income families will have trouble completing their homework in a digital learning environment due to a lack of home WiFi or adequate learning devices. We cannot allow an entire generation to be left behind, denied access to tools and resources, and locked out of high-tech careers. We need Congress to ensure every household in America has internet access.

Send a message to Congress: Expand access to broadband internet.

Incarcerated individuals are fighting for their lives. A generation of kids faces a broadband gap that could set them behind for life. And millions of people face evictions, utility shutoffs, or the risk of contracting a deadly virus just by taking the bus to work.

Dream Corps sits at the intersection of culture change and legislative advocacy — making sure the voices of hurting communities are heard by those with the power to do something about it. And at this perilous time, Dream Corps is united — through our programs, Dream Corps #cut50, Dream Corps Green For All, and Dream Corps TECH — to rebuild our country better than before.

We can’t do it without you. Thank you for standing with us!
