Dear John,

Arsenic, chromium, lead, and mercury do not belong in the Great Lakes. These are some of the hazards threatening to poison our water from coal ash ponds across the Midwest, including forty-four facilities in the Great Lakes watershed.

Now the Trump EPA wants to roll back coal ash standards, putting clean water and public health at risk. Your support helps us fight back against dangerous environmental rollbacks. ([link removed])

In 2011, a large bluff collapsed at a coal plant in Wisconsin, spilling coal ash toxins directly into Lake Michigan. This disaster galvanized Midwesterners to demand stronger protections. Due to the dangers of coal ash pollution, in 2015, the EPA implemented the first federal standards for coal waste storage facilities.

ELPC staff is testifying before the EPA, developing state-level coal ash rules, and ensuring affected communities have a voice when it comes to how this pollution is cleaned up. We will continue fighting for sensible science-based standards to protect public health and the environment.

If you appreciate ELPC's strategic and effective work, then please donate now ([link removed]) . Your gift will be triple matched ([link removed]) thanks to one of our generous donors.
