John,

The story of the past four years is the story of today. Our public
lands continue to be plundered.

As I write you, construction crews are blasting in Organ Pipe
Cactus National Monument, a UNESCO biosphere reserve that is also home
to cultural sites and grounds sacred to the Tohono O'odham
people.

Meanwhile, nearly a million acres that were, until two years ago,
part of Grand Staircase-Escalante and Bears Ears National Monuments
are about to go on the auction block, to be sold to the highest bidder
and drilled and mined for short-term profit.

John, the stakes for public lands in upcoming elections have never been
higher - what happens in the weeks and months ahead will
determine whether our public lands thrive or continue to slide
backwards. That's why I hope that I can count on you to join The
Trust for Public Land with a gift of whatever you can afford.

For every $1 you give, The Trust for Public Land is able to save
$5 worth of land.

With the election fast approaching, please take this opportunity
to show your continued commitment that all Americans, regardless of
party, can agree on: Our public lands should be protected, not
plundered.

Thank you in advance for your generous gift to The Trust for Public
Land today.

Sincerely,

Kim Elliot
Director of Annual Giving

P.S. At this time of political transition, there is much
uncertainty about the fate of our public lands. The Trust for Public
Land needs your continued support today to ensure our most cherished
places are not sold off to the highest bidder as we work toward our
goal to conserve one million acres.
