Biden and Harris have the plan we need to combat climate change

We need your help to make it a reality — by voting in November.

Dear NRDC Action Fund Supporter,
Biden/Harris 2020.
Yesterday, Joe Biden announced Senator Kamala Harris as his vice-presidential running mate.
Joe Biden knows what we need in a vice president: He spent eight years on the job.
Senator Harris is a fighter who has demonstrated a deep understanding of and concern about the climate crisis and its disproportionate impact on low-income communities and communities of color. She helped make California the leader in clean energy jobs, she’s held polluters accountable, she is committed to environmental justice, and she’s supported strong federal action to curb climate-wrecking emissions.
She’ll be a critical partner in executing Biden’s $2 trillion climate plan — the most ambitious climate proposal ever floated by a major party nominee.
The proposal would:
- Zero out carbon emissions from power plants by 2035
- Put millions of people back to work by making the U.S. a leader in clean energy and backing clean energy industries, including investing $400 billion in electric vehicles
- Direct 40 percent of climate spending to rural and urban low-income areas and Black, Indigenous, and communities of color to create clean energy jobs, make communities healthier, and strengthen our economy
- Fight to ensure that safe water and clean air are rights shared equally by all
- Modernize old, outdated buildings to reduce carbon emissions and upgrade public transit in all major cities
- Cease issuing new offshore drilling permits
- Restore our credibility on the world stage by rejoining the Paris climate agreement and turbocharging global climate action
This plan is what the challenges of the times demand, and what we deserve. It is how we will put unprecedented numbers of people back to work and ensure clean air and water for all. And it is how we will fight climate change, rebuild our pandemic-ravaged economy, and address the environmental injustices that systematically harm Black, Indigenous, and communities of color.

Biden and Harris will most certainly share more about this landmark plan at the 2020 Democratic National Committee (DNC) conference next week.
But we need YOU to help us make this plan a reality. The more pro-climate voters we turn out to the polls, the better our chances of defeating Donald Trump and his allies — and ushering in a new pro-environment president and elected officials across the country.
Can we count on you to help us get out the vote?
Here’s how:
- Use our Voter Ready tool to check your voter registration status, register to vote, or request a mail-in ballot
In the COVID-19 era, voting by mail is the safest way to make your voice heard on Election Day. Signing up as early as possible ensures your ballot will arrive on time and prevents your local elections office from being overwhelmed with ballot requests closer to Election Day. (If you’re registered to vote in California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Colorado, Hawaii, Vermont, or Washington, D.C., you will receive a mail-in ballot automatically.)
- Share on Facebook, Twitter, or via email to encourage your friends and family to register and request their mail-in ballots so they’re Voter Ready in November
- Become an All In for Climate Action volunteer and help us text out the vote in some of the most important states and districts across the country
Our planet, our communities, and our future depend on all of us to vote — and vote safely — this fall.
Make sure you’re Voter Ready for the November election.
Thank you for standing with us in this fight, today and on Election Day.
Sincerely,
Kevin S. Curtis
