Hi John,

I emailed you last week about Tesco and deforestation

Here’s the bottom line: the meat industry is the biggest driver of deforestation in the world - destroying the Amazon and other South American forests. Tesco promised to tackle this in its  supply chains, [1] yet it’s *still* buying meat from companies that are linked to rainforest destruction.

If the smoke doesn't speak for itself then it’s time for us to send them an even clearer message.

Will you sign the petition to tell Tesco to drop forest destroyers from its supply chains and replace half their meat products with plant-based alternatives by 2025?

The Amazon is on fire again as we speak - the result of this greedy, destructive industry. [2] There is no time to sit back and wait. The system won't correct itself.

Tesco’s CEO said himself: “The entire food industry, including retailers, must act”. [3] Well Tesco, let’s see action then!

Thank you so much for all you do.

Take care,

Flo

P.S. People power is already working. Because thousands of people have already signed the petition, Tesco have been embarrassed into responding. The only issue is what they’re saying is not quite right. You can see Tesco’s response, and our reply in full here
