Backflow Testing Reminder
Aquaflow
The Village of Oswego provides millions of gallons of safe, clean drinking water to the community each day, consistently meeting and exceeding standards set by the EPA and IEPA. Protecting that water supply remains a top priority.
As part of this effort, the Village maintains a Cross Connection Control Program in accordance with state regulations and the Safe Drinking Water Act. This program plays an important role in preventing contaminants from entering the drinking water system and helps ensure water quality for all residents.
With lawn sprinkler systems beginning to start up for the season, residents should be aware that the Village has partnered with Aqua Backflow to assist with administering the backflow program. Properties with backflow preventers may be contacted regarding annual compliance testing, inspections, surveys or follow-up on repairs or installations. These devices are the responsibility of the property owner, and annual testing is required to remain in compliance.
The Cross Connection Control Program is an important safeguard for public health, and the Village appreciates residents’ cooperation with any outreach from Aqua Backflow or Village staff.

Staying Ahead of Mosquito Season
Mosquito [ [link removed] ]
As warmer weather approaches, mosquito activity increases across the community. The Village of Oswego encourages residents to take simple precautions to reduce risk and help limit mosquito populations this season.
West Nile virus is a serious disease spread by mosquitoes. While not all mosquitoes carry the virus, certain species are responsible for transmitting it to humans, birds and other animals.
Residents can help reduce mosquito activity by using repellent when spending time outdoors, especially during peak hours at dusk and dawn. Around the home, eliminating standing water is essential, as it provides breeding sites. Regular yard maintenance also helps reduce activity by limiting shaded resting areas such as overgrown shrubs, bushes and dense vegetation.
The Village of Oswego mosquito control program applies treatment only when necessary. When control measures are needed, mosquito spraying is typically conducted between dusk and dawn using an ultra-low volume (ULV) mist.
