Hospital Heroes and their patients deserve more. While the Senate's recently proposed coronavirus relief package includes $25 billion in funding for health care providers on the front lines of COVID-19, it's simply not enough to mitigate the projected $320 billion losses hospitals and health systems face this year.
Pressure from this community helped get this legislation on the table, but we can't let up until it includes sufficient support for hospitals and health systems.
That starts with an increase in funding, but should also include direct support for Hospital Heroes, liability protections for front line facilities, preservation and expansion of health insurance coverage, and forgiveness of Medicare accelerated payments.
Tell your lawmakers to support patient care by adding these vital provisions to the upcoming relief package now.

Subject: [Update] Senate's proposed package falls short on protecting patient care
To: Coalition to Protect America's Health Care
Hi,
The Senate released their proposed COVID-19 relief package last week, but the included provisions fall short of meeting the immediate needs of health care providers on the front lines of this pandemic.
Though $25 billion in funding for hospitals and health systems is included in the proposed Senate package, it is not sufficient to balance the projected $320 billion in losses front line providers will face this year.
That means we have more work to do. Contact your senators now and tell them to prioritize patient care as this legislation continues to take shape >>

Here's what we're asking senators to include in this legislation:
- Support for Hospital Heroes, including coverage for child care, transportation, and educational benefits.
- Forgiveness of Medicare accelerated payments to make it easier for hospitals to recover from the devastating financial impact of COVID so they can continue to provide crucial patient care.
- Preserving and building on health insurance coverage, by maintaining coverage for individuals and families and expanding coverage options for the uninsured.
- Liability protections for front line health care providers and facilities treating COVID patients.
We need to make sure the final relief package includes sufficient funding and the other key provisions so nurses, doctors, and health care professionals can continue caring for our families and communities.
Take a moment to send a message to your senators today. Tell them to prioritize hospitals and patient care in their new legislation.
