Friends,

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of the Weston Democratic Club past President and Broward Democratic Party Precinct Committeewoman, Ann Zucker.

Ann has spent the majority of her life as an educator, a term which defines her more than any other, in both her volunteer and professional lives. Ann had fought for many causes.

As a transplant from New York, Ann became Middle School Language Arts Teacher in the Broward County school system. She taught 7th & 8th grades at  both Nova Middle School and Walter C. Young Middle. She was also in charge of the school’s Student Government, and participated in lots of fun events including the school’s talent show. After Ann went into DROP she was asked by BSO to develop a life education curriculum and served as a Life Educator for Broward County until she retired.

Ann held many positions in her home town of Weston, Fl. She was a former Board Member and Secretary of the Bonaventure Town Center Club; reorganized and served as President for many years of the Weston Democratic Club and served as a Co-President of the club with her friend Barry Butin. Ann revitalized the Broward County Democratic Senior Caucus and served as its President. She was unrelenting about her passion for justice and was working  on ensuring that senior citizen were properly registered to vote.

She was also involved in her community and served as President of her Condo Association, President of the Easterly Recreation Association and of the County Club Master Association. Ann also served on the boards of the Presidents’ Council of Bonaventure and the Broad Coalition of Condos & HOA’s. She recently served on the County/Community Protection Board.

This dynamic woman will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She leaves a big void in our lives as a friend, a mother, “NANA” sister, an aunt a community activist and passionate Democrat.

Due to COVID 19, services for Ann will be private. In lieu of flowers to her daughter, Sharon Handler, the family asks that donations be made in Ann’s name to the FLCT (Fort Lauderdale Children’s Theatre) 2542b E. Sunrise Blvd Fort Lauderdale Fl. 33304 or the Actor’s Fund online website  [link removed].
