GOP LEADERS CRITICIZE THE NEW MEXICO OIL & GAS LEADERS FOR PLAYING POLITICS AND MISLEADING NEW MEXICANS
Chairman Pearce along with House Minority Leader Townsend and Senate Minority Leader Ingle called out the New Mexico Oil & Gas Association (NMOGA) Executive Director Ryan Flynn. The state of these industries remains unclear as the global pandemic has raged on. They called Flynn out for misleading New Mexicans on the state of the industry while playing politics by endorsing Rep. Torres Small over Yvette Herrell. The economic output of these industries funds our state's education and pay our teachers. Flynn made false statements that Torres Small has stood up to those in her party who seek to ban fracking, but in February, Torres Small joined other members of the radical leftist squad like AOC in a procedural vote that aimed to ban fracking. She voted with Republicans in 2019 and sided with the Democrats in 2020—is she taking her marching orders from Nancy Pelosi?
A recent article from the Albuquerque Journal highlights the risks that NMOGA Executive Director Ryan Flynn is willing to take with New Mexican livelihoods. Chairman Pearce states that Republicans are watching the games being played by the NMOGA to try and swing this election in favor of far-left Torres Small and needed to call it out. In the Op-Ed they state, "First, Flynn has been painting a very rosy picture about the projected recovery of the oil and gas industry in our state. While we all want to believe that global oil production will quickly rebound to pre-pandemic levels, thus positively affecting New Mexico’s current fiscal condition, Flynn’s statements contradict reality. Meanwhile, New Mexico’s Republican legislators have been tirelessly fighting for greater fiscal responsibility to avoid the state having to dig into our reserves. Flynn’s false portrayal of the industry plays right into the hands of Democrats who want to keep spending as if nothing catastrophic has happened."
THE GOVERNOR IS LOSING CONTROL OF HER ADMINISTRATION
Three high-level positions in the Lujan Grisham Administration will soon be or are now vacant as their current members are resigning from their positions. While they all claim to be leaving on good terms—it begs the question of why the governor's administration is losing people left and right. This clearly paints a picture of an administration in turmoil. The global pandemic and the mistreatment of New Mexicans across the state has cast a grim shadow over the administration as our state's finances spiral out of control. New Mexico is now in month six of the Lujan Grisham shutdown and with no end in sight, it makes sense that her advisors are jumping ship.
GOV. LUJAN GRISHAM CONTINUES SHUT DOWN AS CASES DECLINE
The governor announced that the state will continue its shutdown under her Public Health Order as cases continue to decline. New Mexico has flattened the curve and our COVID-19 numbers across the state continue to fall. Businesses, however, remained shuttered as the financial and economic destruction of our states economy continues. Most notably, restaurants are still barred from indoor dining and the 14-day quarantine order for people coming into the state remains in place. She has continually demonstrated her personal biases and unfair treatment of businesses through her Public Health Order. While mass gatherings of protestors took to the streets with little protection against COVID-19, restaurants were forced to close. The governor repeatedly stated that we must follow the science, but her unjust decisions say otherwise.
We have 90 days to vote Republican. We have 90 days to save New Mexico. Our Oil & Gas Industries are essential to New Mexico—they provide high paying jobs for our families, fund New Mexican education and valuable state programs. We are up against a party who does not see the prosperity and opportunity this could bring to our state. Current state leadership refuses to invest in clean fracking to unlock the full energy potential of New Mexico. We must work hard to save our clean renewable energy, save our education, save our jobs and save our future.
