When the time came for the surgery, Anwara was escorted to the closest eye hospital, an hour away from her home in rural Shahrasti, Bangladesh. The doctors did the surgery, and after removing the bandages from her eyes, Anwara’s joy in seeing the world was restored along with her sight.
